Module 2 Problem Statement

Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to have students articulate their understanding of the problems associated with a specific social issue, and social policies as experienced by a vulnerable population. The student will use recent research evidence, facts and relevant statistics to demonstrate the severity of the social issue and its impact on the target population.

Course Outcome

CO 1: Apply foundational knowledge of social policy, social work practice, advocacy and social justice for vulnerable populations.

CO 3: Identify and assess social policy at the local, state, and federal level that impacts access to social services and service delivery for vulnerable populations.

Deliverables

You are to submit the problem statement for grading.

Requirements

1. The Problem Statement assignment is worth 100 points and will be graded on use of citations, use of Standard English grammar, sentence structure, and overall organization based on the required components as summarized in the directions and grading criteria/rubric.

2. Create your exercise using Microsoft Word.

3. Follow the directions and grading criteria closely. Any questions about your assignment may be posted under the Q & A Forum.

4. The length of the exercise is to be no less than 600 words excluding title page and reference pages.

5. APA format is required with both a title page and reference page. Use the required components of the review as Level 1 headings (upper and lower case, centered, boldface):

3. Describe concerns about accessibility, quality of service and service delivery for the target population. Use recent research evidence, facts and relevant statistics to highlight Deficiencies Related to Services.

4. Identify existing Policies that attempt to address the social issue for the target population.

5. Describe the Detrimental Effects of Deficient Policies that do not adequately address the social issue for the target population. Use recent research evidence, facts and relevant statistics to highlight deficiencies related to deficiencies in policy.

6. Conclusion statement, explaining the benefits of addressing the service gaps and policy deficiencies in support of the target population.
