Scenario Project Module 3

As for the solution I described in my module 2 scenario project, there is a weakness to it. The solution is weak as it is not standard to all drugs and weights of the patients. Drugs are varied in form and how they are taken. It therefore requires more attention to be paid depending on the type of drug and the type of patient. There best way to handle this is to have guided dosage alterations to cater to the weight and the desired dosage range especially regarding the patients who are children.

Unfortunately, there really is no way to strengthen this weakness because there is not a way to change the medications nor to change drugs and weights of the patients. It is possible to have a chart or graph for alterations to medications to be able to accommodate to patient’s better depending on their height, weight, and whether their dosage should be less or more. Some people respond better knowing they are given the right dosage when they see their height and weight with the amount/dosage of a particular medication. It’s all about personal opinions and preferences.

Another possible way is maybe fewer liquid medications, and maybe more gummy or dissolvable pill form of medications. It is quite easy to overdose a child with a liquid form of medication because the person administering it may not have a medicine cup and will only guess on the amount to give. Some medicine cups and syringes are off by a quarter of a ml, give or take. With a gummy or dissolvable pill form of medication, it is more guaranteed that the child is getting an appropriate amount of medication and even better, its more enjoyable or much easier for the child to take.
