Gender equality is a problem all over the world. Women in many different countries are facing discrimination, whether it is in their careers or in their everyday life. The United States has done well in creating equality for men and women compared to other countries, but there is still room for improvement in our country. In class we watched the film Miss Representation which explained the effect the media has on our society. I believe the film does a great job at showing factors as to why the United States has not progressed further towards gender equality. I believe that the media has set roles for both genders, and when those roles are broken it creates an uproar especially when it comes to administrative positions such as in politics. Norms are very hard to change, and it takes time to break norms and create new ones, especially for a large country like the United States. In order to create change, there needs to be less backlash on women when they are trying to advance in their career, especially in politics.

Gender equality has been a major problem in many countries from many years, most of the countries failed in attaining equality in terms of gender, but . Surprisingly in all sectors USA had attained gender equality and created strict laws that everyone should be adhered except women getting into political positions. Coming to the particular point in political power many other countries along with USA  had not involved in political positions. Ideally US had granted right to vote for both the genders but overwhelmingly it had created opportunity to enter into political positions. women are often ambitious to change the world, but are far less likely to believe that politics is most effective means of doing this. men are most interested in politics rather than women and people taught that women are not capable of certain things which include politics. Past events results in making this point strong, many times women are getting into competition for president ship in Usa and many other political positions but got a negative result where people strongly believe  its not a suitable position for women. But in near by future this may not prevail, because women empowerment is coming into picture, where gender  equality transfers women to take up particular responsibility in all the sectors.
