Watch this movie:

1. Away From Her (2006) (Available on Netflix, YouTube etc.)

Give a summary of the movie. Discuss the role(s) the older adult. How was the older person and aging portraited? Would you want the life that the movie projected of the older adult? What were your overall feelings after watching the movie?

Part 2: Medication & Beer’s Criteria

Question should incorporate the Beer’s Criteria in the discussion. Reference is necessary for this discussion.

Select a specific drug that is listed on the Beer’s Criteria (Class of benzodiazepines: drug chosen is diazepam). Discuss the purpose of the drug, mechanism of action, adverse reactions especially for the older adult, alternatives that would be safer than this medication. Remember to include in the discussion something about cost and adherence to taking the medication.
