 Less Than: Left-tailed

 Greater Than: Right-Tailed

 Not Equal To: Two-Tailed

Critical Values

 Left-Tailed: T.INV(alpha, d.o.f.) or NORM.S.INV(alpha)

 Right-Tailed: T.INV(1-alpha, d.o.f.) or NORM.S.INV(alpha)

 Two-Tailed: T.INV(1-alpha/2, d.o.f.) or NORM.S.INV(alpha/2) and then take both

positive and negative value

P-Values

 Left-Tailed: T.DIST(test stat, d.o.f., true) or NORM.S.DIST(test stat, true)

 Right-Tailed: 1-T.DIST(test stat, d..o.f., true) or 1-NORM.S.DIST)test stat, true)

 Two-Tailed: use left-tailed for a negative test stat and right-tailed for a positive test stat.

The last bit to mention (as a reminder) is that when testing something about a mean we use t's

and the T. formulas. When testing something about a proportion we use z's and the NORM.S

formulas.
