•  Establishing the Drug Safety Program, through which training is provided for a specialist pharmacist at each hospital to follow up how the drug safety guide is applied, and to educate physicians and nursing staff on the best method to administer medicine, and the potential errors and how to avoid them.
•  Introducing the Australian Medical Coding System (ICO-10) to the MOH’s medical records to simplify registration and coding of diseases.
•  Establishing the Medical Records Improving Program, which aims at gathering the medical forms from all hospitals and transforming them into electronic ones, in addition to restoring all medical archiving departments and supplying them with computers and the other necessary equipment, as well as training their staff.
• Establishing productivity improvement program in the hospitals operation rooms which has been applied so far in 20 MOH hospitals and contributed to increasing the productivity in the operation rooms in these hospitals by 25%.
• Establishing Medical Performance Improvement Program in the neonatal intensive care units in collaboration with Minnesota University in USA. The program started with a comprehensive survey of all neonatal intensive care units at all Kingdom hospitals, as a prelude to support these hospitals and provide training for their staff. 
•  Establishing performance improvement program in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), which started with four hospitals and achieved overwhelming success. Preparations now are underway to apply the program in the Kingdom's other hospitals.  
•  Establishing performance improvement program in the emergency units of 12 hospitals, which led to increasing speed of dealing with patients and facilitating classification of patients and provision of health care for them. 
•  Establishing patient relations program, currently staffing more than 1200 employees sparing no effort to ensure comfort for patient's, as well as responding to their enquiries and help them when visiting the hospital. The program also conducts questionnaires regularly to gauge patients satisfaction about the service provided for them.

1.  Opening King Saud Quarantine Hospital, with a capacity of 80 beds including 25 beds for intensive care.  
2.  Increasing manpower in in land, sea and air ports.
3.  Launching PCR Lab in Mina Alwadi Hospital to conduct tests of emerging influenza cases in the Holy Sites.  
4.  Expanding the lab of Mina Al-Jisr Hospital in Mina.
5. Establishing an area for sorting and isolation, and providing it with all physical and technical capabilities at Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Hospital for Hajj flights coming from abroad to contain emerging suspected influenza cases.
6. Using thermoelectric cameras in the Kingdom’s ports.
7. Providing necessary vaccines to deal with emerging influenza cases.
8. Developing infection control programs, and providing all that is necessary for applying health requirements and instructions related to infection control in the Holy Sites' health facilities.

The Unified Portal of Health Services:

  It aims to bring together all e-services and programs used by MOH Hospitals, health centers or other facilities and sectors, under a reliable, unified and an official e-portal.    Referral System (Ehalty):   The program enables hospitals to refer patients to other hospitals and follow up referred cases. It also follows submission of the referred cases to the relevant health affairs directorate as well as the Ministry. In addition, the program enables the Medical Commissions and Health Attaché General Department to follow up referral cases and take necessary measures as well as following up hospitals’ responses.     Birth Registration and Vaccination Reminder Service:   The project aims at registering and exchanging birth-related information with the Civil Affairs Agency through the National Information Center. More than 250 hospitals have been linked, in addition to the registration to receive reminders of the basic vaccinations.   Bed Management Program:   The program enables the responsible and authorized person to enter accurate information around the clock about bed status, one-day surgeries and the ordinary operations in MOH's hospitals.    Staff Transfer System: ​This system aims at automating staff transfer (both internally and externally). Automation is carried out by submitting transfer requests electronically, without need to attend in person, thus making procedures smoother, and free from red-tape. Besides, it allows employees to electronically follow up the status of their requests, instead of attending in person to enquire about them.​ Health Information System (HIS):

•   Embarking on the adoption of the Patient e-File system.
•  Providing MOH hospitals with an e-health information system.
• Connecting all systems inside the hospitals.

• Building a first-of-its-kind e-cloud to provide easy access to the services.
• Making use of the new technologies to provide e-services for all health facilities.

•  Enhancing the Kingdom's capacity in conducting semi-direct bio monitoring.
•  Collecting, sharing and analyzing health information required for better management of infectious diseases.
•  Monitoring statistics and allowing for the statistical analysis of data through early diagnosis.

• This system was applied in the hospitals.
•  Providing e-services for hospitals

•  Protecting neonates from abduction or unintentional switching within hospitals.
•  Applying the Neonatal Protection System in 16 gynecology and obstetrics hospitals.
• This system is currently being applied in 149 hospitals.

•  Linking all regional centers of poison control to a central e-system.
• Providing specialized e-services for monitoring poisons at the ministry and other government bodies, including ports.

• Developing a system for registering serious incidents that might occur at the public and private hospitals.
• Reporting these incidents to MOH officials via mobile messages (SMS).

• Scheduling appointments electronically. 
•  Providing pre-marital screening services electronically. 
•  Using e-fingerprinting for information verification.

• Identifying sites providing health services at all regions.
• Providing easy and swift access to these sites.

• Linking the MOH to National Information Center and the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS). 
•  Coordination is underway for linking the Ministry with different government bodies.

•  Setting the electronic health standards to complete all e-health projects.
•  Adopting and adapting to some of the international standards (CDA.ICD10IHE,HL7).
