1. Title: My Heart Will Go On

“My Heat Will Go On” is Love them from Titanic which is a blockbuster film. Its music was composed by James Horner and its lyrics were written by Will Jennings. This song was release in 1997 and recorded by Celine Dion. It is a high pitched voice played with various instruments such as flute. It was taken from the album Let’s Talk about Love and it was title song from Titanic soundtrack album. This was a beautiful romantic song famous all over the world including the United States, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and United Kingdom. This song was released in Germany and Australia on December 8, 1997. It was releases in rest of the world on February 1998. I include this song in my list as it is one of the best ever songs in the music industry.

I like this song because of its beautiful lyrics, the voice, and the instruments used to record this song. It represents love in a very beautiful way. This song was one of the best-selling all the time in 1998. Its music in video was directed by Bille Woodruff and releases in the end of 1997. This song was considered as Dion’s signature song. The Recording Industry Association of American considered this song as the Song of the Century. Dion was performed this song on 20th Anniversary of the film. It has more than 18 million copies and became the second best-selling song be a female in history. Listeners enjoy this song every time when they listen. This song is famous among the youth. Youngsters like it most because of the performers, the arts and the lyrics.

2. Title: Love the Way You Lie

“Love the Way You Lie” is recorded by American rapper Eminem, featured Barbadian singer Rihanna from Eminem’s 7th studio album the Recovery in 2010. Before this, the singer had recorded a demo of this song by help of a producer Alex da Kid. This was as excellent example of pop-rap performed by Rihanna. Eminem select Rihanna to sing this song along with different past experiences. It recording was completed in Ferndale, Michigan, Ireland, and Dublin. It comprises guitar, violin, and piano. It was mid-tempo hip-hop with a pop mix, dung by Rihanna. It described two lovers who refused to separate despite being in serious love-hate relationship. I select it because of the variety of tone and it pop mix style, which I loved to listen.

I like this song because of a variety of instruments use in it to make it inspiring. This song was released by Interscope Records in 2010. It melody was divided on thematic aspects like accuracy and poignancy. Eminem was promoted by Electronic Entertainment Expo, in 2010 and also in MTV Video Music Awards and in festivals. Music video was directed by Joseph Kahn, Megan Fox, and Dominic Monaghan. It was a best track in the year 2010. This song had five Grammy nominations and many other awards. Listeners want love this song because of its beautiful tone and pop-rap performance.

3. Title: Billie Jean

“Billie Jean” was sung by Michael Jackson and it was released in January 1983. This song was the second single in his sixth album Thriller. It was post-disco type, with rhythm and blues. This song was composed by Jackson and it was produced by Quincy Jones and Jackson. This was one of the best-selling songs in 1983 for Jackson as a solo artist. Thriller was one of the best-selling albums of all time. This song was number one on Billboard Hot 100 for 7 years. This was famous in United Kingdom and many other European countries. This song got many honors that include Grammy Awards, and American Music Award. I include this song in my playlist because it is one the best songs. I listen many times and every time it creates a new energy because of its thrilling style, the performance, and the involvement of its audience to boost the energy.

I like the costume that Michael Jackson adopted in this performance. His style was widely appreciated and admired that time. This performance was also nominated for an Emmy Award. There were number of elements in this performance that were particularly associated with Michael Jackson which include moonwalk dance and his style with singe white sequined glove. The music video of this song was directed by Steve Barron which was played a main role in starting history of cable channel MTV. This was a first video of a black artist to air on MTV with high rotation. This song has deep effect on listeners as they enjoy the most famous performer Jackson, his style to perform, his dancing thrill, and his passion to sing.

4. Title: Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)

“Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” was a Spanish song by Colombian singer Shakira. This song was released on May 2010 by Epic Records. It was an official song of 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. This song was written, composed and produced by John Hill and Shakira. This was a pop rock song and its lyrics encouraged one to objective for the goals such as soldier on a battlefield. This song was on the people and became number one record charts in different countries including Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. This song was on number 38 on Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was also certified platinum by Recording Industry Association of America.

In include this song because of its purpose which is different from others in my list. It is to improve activity and effort of African football players and the viewers for their chance to win the game. I like this song because of its lyrics and its emotional tone. Shakira with a team of dancers and children together featured for footballers such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Because of its theme and dancing children it was most popular among the youth and children and they enjoyed it on YouTube. His song got 1.7 billion views till January 2018. Shakira performed this song on the opening ceremony of FIFA World Cup 2010. This pop rock song has its impact on the listeners to boost their energy to play and to enjoy football.

SECTION III: Personal Reflection

In reflection and assessment of the assignment, it can say that it is a very good way to find master pieces from the art industry. I have selected four songs from the music industry. These songs are the best-selling in different decades. I write YouTube link along with the list of these songs to find them easily and to listen them. This is a good way to listen and feel them for the excellent efforts of artists, writers, and director of these songs and the films. Before this assignment I was not so much clear about different style and genre but after watching these songs now I have some idea about pop-rap, rhythm and blues, funk, dance-pop, and pop rock. I watch a mix of different sound and instruments like flute, piano etc.

From the first song “My Heart Will Go On” I learned how lyrics, voice, and instruments can create a unique master piece to represent love beauty of love. I understand how different musical acts have performed in the cover versions of this song. I have some prior knowledge and understanding of these different musical acts but I was not aware about a beautiful combination of these musical instruments. Now I learn how an excellent performance can attract viewers. From second song “Love the Way You Lie” is another great song I ever watch. Although there is a criticism on a clip because of domestic violence, but it shows the feelings of love to someone.

From third song “Billie Jean” I learn and enjoy a beautiful performance of Jackson. I like him because of such nice performances he ever presented for his viewers. The rhythm and composition, and his specific style by wearing single glove and hat, is amazing for me. Although I look such styles before this but I was not observed such a nice combination as presented in this song. This song was about women who spent a night of passion with narrator and now claim that the narrator is father of her newborn son. During research I found that the situation presented in this song is based on Michael Jackson’s own experience with a crazed fan.

“Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) inspired me more as I like football. These songs inspired me and boost my energy to play and watch football matches. I like the performance of this team with children. Shakira is one of my best singer and performer on this stage of emotional and thrilled songs.

I enjoy the process because in this way I find different songs in YouTube and different websites. I find the history of these songs, view of people, and date of releases which increase my knowledge about the most famous artistic work in the history. My sense to understand music has increases and now I am more enjoying those songs which were listening by me but I had no information about the background of these songs, and name of artists and singers. Now I have basic knowledge about such things in the music industry. During this assignment I dig the history of music and how people are famous because of their different efforts in this industry.

I feel that I have a better understanding of the musical aspects of the selections I have included in my playlist. These are master pieces of that time and most popular one. I really enjoyed these assignments as it is interested for me. Now I can explain these songs well to have a good interaction with others in my team, in the group in the institutions, and in my friends. I this practices as it is a good way to search, find, reference, and detail different artistic efforts in the history. I can explain my ideas as this is a very good way to find details about fantastic songs, their history, the singers, and viewers. This assignment is in three sections which is a good way to categorize the efforts.
