IMPORTANT STEP -- Complete the following by Thurday evening:

Research Step #6 – Two tiered outline—main points and sub points—of your research paper’s Main Question. Refer to Module #8 Notes and Slideshow 8A for the format of this outline and what it should contain:

· Put the Main Research Question at the top of the page.

· Section questions as main points – first tier of the outline

· Body paragraphs as sub points – second tier of the outline

Post this work in your blog under “Research Step #6 – Paper Outline”

RECOMMENDATION: Complete the outline in a .docx or .rtf file. See below for an outline template to be used to form your outline. Note that the precise form will not translate in the Bb post environment, but the labeling will remain --

HINT: Copy and paste the completed outline into your blog using your key board –

Select the table—CONTROL A, then - copy CONTROL C; paste CONTROL V

NOTE: At this point in the research paper process you will be guessing about the organization of this outline. You should know what your main research question and section questions are. BUT you may need to guess the themes of each of your body paragraphs--sub points of the outline. Think of this outline as a wish list of what each section should contain – even if you do not have all of the information, yet. The outline will identify what areas you need to continue to find material.

Comment on your study partner’s outline post. Use the “ Comment” in the post containing the outline. Use the following criteria in evaluating your study partner’s work:

· Is each Section Question—main point—related to the main research question?

· Do each of the section questions make sense to you? Can you determine what that section is about from these questions?

· Examine the sub points under each Section Question. These sub points identify the common theme of each body paragraph for that section of the paper. Does each body paragraph theme relate to the Section Question? Is it written as a topic sentence?

NOTES:

· You can write out each body paragraph theme as a topic sentence or a focused question. This will get you started on actually writing the paper.

· There are different numbers of body paragraphs in each section; this is just a template and cannot determine how many BPs you will use in each section of your paper. Use what you need from this template. There should be at least three body paragraphs per section.

· Feel free to use this table as a template for your outline. But paste only the outline into your Blog Space
