3. "Site Visit" Assignment (due 11/15)
Module 4 is focused on how we create and evaluate adult
education programming.
Upon completion of this module, you will be able to:
Read the following assigned articles/texts focused on The
Contexts of Adult Education (we did read Chapters 10 and
11 in Module 1, so I would suggest that you skim them).
The contexts are important for program planning because
they are tied so closely. Of course, an organizational
context in"uences the program planning.:

Module 4 Discussion
During Module 4, Week 1
During Module 4, Week 2
Over the course of this module, I would like for us to look
very speci#cally at what is entailed in teaching adults.
During Week 1, after you have read some of the articles,
please post and respond to colleagues regarding the
following: What is adult education programming? What are
the characteristics of e!ective adult educations programs
and programming? Where have you seen this in your own
experiences? Due November 8.
During Week 2, after you have read the articles, think about
our current situation (speci#cally surrounding COVID and
social distancing) and post and respond to colleagues
regarding the following: Please describe one program and
organization that have o!ered adult education
programming regarding something related to
COVID (health, self-care, technology). How is this program
speci#c to the needs of their potential learners? What
formats (computer-based, text, audio) are these programs
using? Are these the best means to reach their potential
learners? Why or why not? What would you do
di!erently? Due November 15.
Site Visit Assignment
Assignment:
for full assignment details and the grading rubric.
Deliverable:
Review the Site Visit Assignment document
Your assignment is to #nd at least two di!erent adult education settings with a web presence, visit their
websites, and report on what you #nd. The web sites you
will need analyze should come from the follow
categories: Adult Basic Education (GED, Adult Literacy,
Adult Basic Education, Financial Literacy, etc.), Workplace
Education (Career Readiness, Onsite Training, Skill Training,
etc.), Health Education (Nutrition Training, Diabetes
Training, Weight-Loss Training, Healthy Living, etc.), and
Continuing Education (Computer Skills, Photography, Craft
Skills, etc.). You should explore one site in one category
and your second site should be from a di!erent
category. This should be found through an internet
search. For example, you may #nd that Health Education is
being carried out by hospitals, community education, and
gyms. You may #nd that Workplace Education or training is
being provided by speci#c companies for their employees
or by third party providers such as professional
trainers. Wherever you may #nd these places, it is up to
you to do so. However, for each web site, please answer the questions included in the Assignment document.
After answering the questions for each web site, you will
then type up at least a 4-page paper on what you found out (answers to the questions), the strengths and weaknesses of each, their similarities and di!erences, and your re"ection. In your re"ection, please connect your paper to our reading assignments (also make
recommendations or illustrate elements that are missing
that should exist in adult education program planning).
I am looking for in-depth analysis and reporting from you. I
want you to critically think about adult education and how
programs have di!erent approaches. Compare this with
what you are seeing in our readings. When citing
resources, be sure to use APA Style Manual, 7th. IF YOU
HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK ME.
