What does that lead them to understand about teaching and learning. I know we placed specific questions in the module.
5. Please think about what the information on the report card helps you understand about the school environment. Examine the demographics and the state exam scores. Example :
The purpose of the report card is to inform the child's parents about his/her academic performance during the school year. Many parents consider this to be the most important document they receive from the school (Newport News Public Schools, n.d.).
According to my school’s report card, it has many parts which include math, reading, writing and English Language Arts, social studies, and motor development. The report card is very detailed which helps not only teachers to understand the student's strengths and weaknesses but also helps the parents to see where their child is at this academic level. It also speaks for the school and how the school runs the education system inside. It is very important for me to be a part of a great school where all the work is done for the best of the child.
Additionally, it is highly important to me to parental involvement is one of my glows. I enjoy collaborating with the parents as well as inviting them for family engagement activities which could be as a homework project with their child. My next glow is to be passionate about teaching the younger population and seeing their progress. My experience shows that it is a very important part of self-esteem and, professionalism. Teachers with high levels of self-efficacy tend to believe that they can catch up with slow learners by using the right techniques and encouraging them to work harder. Teachers with low self-efficacy tend to attribute low grades to low student ability. Self-efficacy is also related to problem-solving in the classroom. I love children and I want to see their happy faces, and, at the same time, I want them to be able to learn new skills daily (Taylor & Francis, 2014). My other glow is being able to teach step-by-step instruction by working in small groups which could be any subject (math, reading, writing, and others).
According to my growth, I have noticed that I have a difficult time with classroom management and teaching students who have behavior and/or social-emotional disorders. It gives me a tough time to assess those students because they are not able to stay on task or sit still and listen or follow directions. I always provide scaffolding to those students, but I feel it is not enough and it does not always work. This is my weakness which I hope to fix and learn new techniques, new methods on how to solve those issues, and how I can be helpful to those students.
According to the report card, there are no parts for state tests because it is a private school and only has very young students there who are from 2-5 years old. However, we do teach and follow the DOE curriculum and do our best to support each child's strengths and needs, as well as help the child to be ready for the next academic year. Our school is very collaborative and a team that many teachers would agree is very important to have as an educator. Collaborative learning has been proven to not only develop higher-level thinking skills in students but also to increase their confidence and self-esteem. Group projects can maximize the educational experience by demonstrating material while improving social and interpersonal skills (Gates, 2018).
