M3 Draft PPT Slides

(In Module 1 you had posted one draft title slide, where you already identified a leader in your own field of professional/personal interest on whom you hope to focus your research and in Module 2 you had created a reference list). Now you have to:

Conduct independent research.

1. Post a revision of your title and references slides based on feedback. 

2. Add five required introduction slides after your title slide and before the references. 

If you pay attention to careful wording in the introduction, your content and logical flow of ideas in the main body of your project will proceed correctly. Ignoring these may lead to lack of clarity, not supporting opening ideas from the literature, and key deficiencies. If you're working towards an A grade on your final project, take the time to follow this guide.  

Here is the required structure: 

Slide 1: Project title, your name and the course number ITGS 400. 

Slide 2: Heading is "Background".  Include a broad statement about the issue - historical and/or contextual background to the topic. Provide citations for each sentence (about three sentences would be sufficient). 

Slide 3: Heading is "Rationale". Include a statement explaining why this topic is still a problem and still needs our attention e.g. "A high prevalence of childhood obesity remains a nation-wide issue in the USA." (one sentence is sufficient, but a couple more if you prefer). 

Slide 4: Heading is "Thesis statement". Include a one-sentence summary of the main point you are arguing in your project e.g., "Michelle Obama played a critical role in impacting public awareness of preventing childhood obesity." Refer to the activist person/group you are highlighting. (one sentence is best)  

Slide 5: Heading is "Aim". Explain the goal of the project e.g. "This review of literature aims to provide a few perspectives on...."  (one sentence is best)  

Slide 6:  Heading is "Main points". State your three (or usually at most up to five) intended subheadings e.g. "This topic is explored through a review of literature in three areas, including ......, ......, and .......".   For example, you might include a section on the social issue itself first, then a history of how your activist became involved and third what they have done to impact change, But I will allow complete flexibility for you to select what you want to cover in these main areas as long as you're (1) achieving your aim and (2) defending your thesis statement. (usually 1 sentence - more if needed).

**Remember, you are doing a literature review - not a paper with your own ideas, so be sure to include the words "literature and "review" somewhere in the main points or the aim. 

Slide 7: Heading is "References". Use APA style. These references may be spread over several slides. Remember all references will have to be cited somewhere in your final paper, otherwise deleted from your list.
