Monoliths, clouds and microservices – an evolution
Summary of Module Content:
The aim of this module was to provide you a background understanding of
microservice architecture as a philosophy and the software engineering philosophies
that it is challenging. This was to ensure that you can conceptually orient this
philosophy both on its departure points for evolution, but also to understand the
value drivers that are making this approach appealing to software engineers and
businesses.
The learning activities encouraged you to tease out some of the di�erent ‘schools of
thought’ about microservices architecture and the bene�ts it o�ers developers and
the business. This content is laying the foundation for further discussion and in-depth
investigation of the di�erent components associated with ensuring that microservices
architecture delivers on promised value for businesses.
