Group Project Part III: Peer Evaluations

Purpose In Part III of the Group Project, you will evaluate the participation of other members of your group. This activity is designed to encourage each group member to fully and actively participate and contribute to the project.

Directions There is a peer evaluation component to your individual project grade. Each group member will be need to assign points to the other group members depending on how you think each group member contributed to the project. You'll assign each of your group members a score anywhere between 2 and 0 (you can give decimals) based on the following:

2 points (equivalent of an A - this student was a group leader and made consistent and quality contributions) 1 point (equivalent of a C - this student contributed) 0 points (equivalent of an F - this student did not participate in any meaningful way)

You are free to assign any number of points to any student in your group based on your judgment of their contributions. Be fair in your assessments, but if someone in your group did not contribute adequately, give them fewer points. If someone worked harder than the rest, give that person more points.

Here are some rules for assigning the points:

1. You cannot give anyone in your group more than 2 points. 2. Do not give any one a grade they do not deserve. (Do not take personalities into account. You must assign the points

fairly based on learning and work done.) 3. If any student receives one peer grade of 0, that student may receive a final project grade of 0. (The instructor will review

the student’s contributions based on the group discussion board) 4. If any student receives at least two peer grades of 0, that student will receive a final project grade of 0.

The peer evaluations are confidential and seen only by me.

What do I (the instructor) do with this?

I modify your group project grade to arrive at individual grades. If you do no participate you will receive a zero and if you have limited participation your grade will be reduced.

Please submit your peer evaluations to me by 11:59 p.m. on the due date listed. Your submission should include the names of your group members and a point value you are assigning. Remember this is sent as confidential and seen only by me.

Grades will not be assigned for the group project until everyone has completed the peer review. Try to complete this peer review soon after the project so that everyone's contributions are fresh in your mind.

Grading Your individual grade will be influenced by how much your group members feel that you participated in the group project.
