Group Immersion Assignment #2: Dissemination of Best Practice Evidence Using
Technology
Guidelines with Grading Rubric
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to utilize technology to disseminate best practice evidence. The
ABCD framework will be utilized to complete the assignment. Please see the below description for
each component of the framework.
Topic: In your assigned groups, develop materials to disseminate best evidence using a social media
platform.
Appraise: Search the literature for 2-3 articles that discuss a public health issue. Appraise the
articles to decide if there is valid evidence to apply to practice. Justify the decision to use the chosen
articles, or continue to search the literature for articles that are acceptable. Describe your search
strategy and process, and discuss how you decided what information to apply or what
recommendations should be applied to practice. You will use the same topic and the information
contained in the articles to develop presentation materials.
Bounce off: As a group, decide on the topic and method of dissemination while considering the
target population. You will not actually disseminate the information, but will prepare it as if it would
be disseminated. You can utilize the following platforms as guides in developing the materials:
blogs, Reddit, YouTube videos, Twitter, Facebook, or other sites that allow for use of a discussion
thread. If you have other ideas for methods of dissemination, please discuss them with your course
instructor. Please keep in mind principles of scholarly communication in development of these
materials.
Compile: Develop the presentation materials on the chosen topic and in the chosen format.
Disseminate: Share your presentation materials with other students in the course by posting it in the
appropriate forum.
Course Outcomes
Through this assignment, the student will demonstrate the ability to:

facilitate evaluation of information as it pertains to practice.

improve client and/or patient outcomes in the nursing leadership arena.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. To complete this assignment, you will need to access to the following databases: PubMed,
CINAHL, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and other resources in the Jay Sexter Library.
These data bases can be accessed through the Touro Online Library http://tun.touro.edu/jay-
sexter-library/
2. The Group Immersion Assignment is worth 300 points and will be graded using the
designated rubric. Grading criteria include quality of content, appropriate citations, use of
Standard English grammar, and overall organization and readability.
3. Create your assignment using a Microsoft Word application. The document should be saved
in a .doc or .docx format.
4. There is no required length, but the submission should be substantive to address all
requirements.
5. APA format is required.
6. Discussion of the dissemination of best evidence using technology and social media
platforms should be included.
7. The following sections should be included and denoted through APA section headings in the
paper.

PREPARING THE ASSIGNMENT:
1. Review Hall & Roussell text, Chapter 18 and Jones, K., Baldwin, A., & Lewis, P. R. (2012). The potential influence of a social media intervention on risky sexual behavior and
chlamydia incidence. Journal of Community Health Nursing, 29, 106-120.
2. Perform a scholarly search exploring the chosen public health issue, specifically looking at how each article can serve to address this issue. Complete the search strategy form. Each
group member should choose 2-3 articles that are relevant to the topic.
3. Develop a list of the chosen articles to share with the group. 4. Using your text and scholarly inquiry as a guide, synthesize your ideas and develop a
presentation using the acceptable formats which could be disseminated using a social media
platform.
5. Share your presentation with other students in the course in the appropriate discussion forum.
*Note: While this is a group assignment, students have the option if they wish to change the
deliverable or the end product on an individual basis. Each individual will submit their own
assignment. It can be the submission the group worked on and completed together, or an
