PM4OP2: Transforming Firms Agilely

In today’s business climate, firms must be ever-adaptive and evolving to and with

external pressures and other aspects of business operations. One such evolution is that of the

‘agile’ organization. Organizations characterized as ‘agile’ meet specific requirements such as

being fast responders to and quick decision-makers when necessary; they will make drastic

organizational changes in response to an unfriendly business environment. If they need to

implement new policies and procedures, they do so swiftly and on-a-dime. If a firm must

implement a rewards management system, then an agile firm will do so.

Transformational change can be difficult; especially when it is sudden and over in an

instant. Firms must have the correct kinds of leaders to take on such a task. Transformational

leaders do things more on-the-fly than others. They are better-suited to making changes to their

firms’ policies quickly and efficiently (Warrick, 2017). Quick-adapting firms are frequently

high-performing ones as well (Warrick, 2017). An integral piece of a smooth change in an

organization is an excellent culture. Not only does this allow for higher levels of productivity and

decreased sick days taken, it also helps keep current workers engaged in what they do, which is

further good for their organization (Warrick, 2017).

If a firm, say, practiced collaborative decision-making, its workers could vote for a

rewards system. Managing one means lots of involvement and change as and when necessary,

implementing a new reward management system.
