In Explain (in 1 to 2 paragraphs) how your use of the resource impacts the environmental issue you have chosen.

Climate change relates to the rise in average surface temperatures on Earth. A definite amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) happens naturally in the Earth's atmosphere; however, several human activities increase levels of the greenhouse gas.

Electricity

On an average day, based on my electric bill my family consumes 86 kwh per day. Which mean that coal and/or petroleum is being burned submitting CO2.

Transportation

On an average day, my family uses or occupies 3-4 motorized vehicles. My husband drives 140 miles per day. My children ride two different school buses that take them about 7-10 miles per day. I travel once or twice a week for grocery and random task when needed.

Sadly, we are contributing CO2 emissions that is contributing to the climate change and global warming by using gasoline with 10% or less ethanol.

Based on the information provide to Globalfootprint.com we are contributing 7.4 tons per year for our carbon footprint. 59% of our consumption emits CO2.

Based on the information provided changes need to made to lower our overall carbon consumption.

Discuss (in 1 to 2 paragraphs) whether your use of the resource is typical of U.S. consumption rates and how your personal use rates globally. Support your discussion with scientific fact.

"Carbon footprint is defined as the measure of greenhouse gases that one is responsible for creating, or units of carbon dioxide that are produced in tons per year" (Rogers, n.d.). The average American's carbon footprint per person in 2014 was 21.5 metric tons CO2 according to the University of Michigan. Based on the information that I provided placed us about 1/3 of the average American. I am happy to know that we are taking steps in the right direction, give or take some adjustment to help lower the emission. However, there is much work to done.

In our busy high-tech world, we are consuming and demanding more. Many companies and consumer are recognizing the need to change and make better decisions.

List the possible alternatives to lessen your resource use. (This list should have at least three alternatives.) Discuss (in 1 to 2 paragraphs) the changes you would consider making to lessen your personal impact on the resource

There are a few alternate options that we can take the how lessen our use of resources.

1. Considering installing solar panels to power our home and using a natural light, candles, and other alternatives for light source.

2. Purchasing a more energy-efficient or electric car due to the travel and the amount of the mission that is being released from a gas-powered car.

3. Invest in reusable or recyclable products

4. taking the time to make sure that I’m conserving where I can. Making sure that the children and myself are turning off light, water, and any other options that will allow us to use less of our resources.

5. Recycle products that can be recycled or dispose of them properly to help lessen the amount of contamination.

The reason I think that these changes are going to be important and valuable to helping us to lower our carbon footprint is because they’re all alternate ways available. I think one of the primary reasons for the delay is due to the financial impact.

Solar panels are truly what I’d like to invest in as soon as possible because we are in Florida and we get a massive amount of sunlight. So not only can we power our home we can also provide electricity and power back to the power companies as well.

Using products from companies that invest in a biodegradable or recyclable or reusable containers or products will allow for a healthier world. Also, considering ordering online as much as possible the help cut back on the many trips to the store.

I was also considering planting a garden to provide a more organic and natural source of food and vegetables to help cut back on the many trips that I have to take to the supermarket.
