1. It is very important for all nurses and healthcare professionals to understand the basics of how information systems are selected and implemented because they need to be able to use them correctly. A patients whole plan of care can be altered if a healthcare professional makes one simple error. This could possibly lead to a life or death situation. Something that seems so simple is in fact super important. Not only that, but if the healthcare professionals are not educated on why a particular system was chosen and how to implement them correctly, patient information could be lost or exposed at some point. 

     I believe that an ethical concern related to technology would definitely be social media. A great amount of facilities and healthcare workers use social media as a platform for their business. However, if there are certain patients that are unable to communicate or unaware of being placed on this platform then that becomes an issue. When deciding what and who to place on social media,  the nursing code of ethics would be helpful. If direct communication between the patient and staff member regulating social media, then I feel the patient should not be placed on the platform.

2. Code of ethics serves as a guide to do what is right. The purpose of a code of ethics for internet healthcare is to outline the way healthcare professionals should handle the use of social media. Patient's rights still must be protected and confidentiality must be maintained. In the world today, the internet is used everywhere including the professional practice. It is the duty of the medical professionals to remain ethical and protect the rights of each individual. Due to the ever changing issues of the world today,  nurses must be educated on the different technologies today and how to handle them in the workplace. Demiray et al. (2019) believes in-service training should be integrated in nurses' training to better equip them for ethical dilemmas such as social media use in the nursing profession.

In creating a systems development life cycle there must be an understanding in what is needed in the system. Developing a system that meets the needs of a corporation can be difficult. The analysis stage is where a group of people of the organization set down and look into the needs of the organization. This group does research on the business strategies and decides on the needs to make the system work. The design stage is where the team decides on the programs needed for the system. This stage is crucial because it validates what data for the system is most important in developing the right system for the corporation. Both of these stages in the development cycle are essential. Skipping the analysis stage may cause organizations to fail. It could cause the organization to lose money and also cause the organization to lose time lost in another system that was not beneficial to the company's needs.

Social media continues to grow and become more and more popular. As nurses, it is becoming more challenging to maintain confidentiality with our patients. Not only with patients, nurses must also be mindful of their behaviors on social media as well. The code of ethics is a guide for how to take care of patients as well as how nurses should carry themselves professionally. During this pandemic, I have found that it has been a popular thing for my patients to record themselves being tested for Covid-19 and posting it on Facebook for views. This has been a dilemma for me considering cellphone use is not allowed in the SPOC areas or facility where I work. I have to constantly fight with patients and being accused of taking their rights away since "it is my body and my car." I have found that it is much easier to just let them do what they want as long as I am not in the video or any of the other patients in the area that are being tested. It is important that patient privacy is maintained at all times.

3.HIPPA is a huge deal in healthcare. They drill it into you when you are in orientation, yet so many people do not understand it fully. There are many HIPPA violations every year, many by ignorance, but many from just not understanding it. When another nurse asks you to pull up another patients chart to look at something, and it is not pertinent to you, it is a HIPPA violation because you can not go into other patients chart for any reason, even your own chart. Some people including myself are scared to say anything to other people over the phone because you don't want to violate HIPPA. There are some things that you can say, but over the phone doesn't seem secure to me because you never know who is on the other line. I feel like there should be a cheat sheet that sums it up in layman's terms for healthcare providers. CNA's are another big one that do not fully understand and need more education on it.
