I. Proposed Dissertation Title:
The vulnerability of global economy to uncertainties.
II. Research Question or Hypothesis:
Is the global economy vulnerable to uncertainties?
In line with the research question, the answer that is widely embraced is “yes”. The global economy has proven that it is vulnerable to uncertainties. The evidence is seen in the current situation in the world (Jurczenko, 2020). The global demand is high in many areas but manufacturing nations have no power to meet the demand. COVID-19 is the uncertainty that is targeted in this case. The uncertainty has forced organizations to shut their doors and halt operations. The world has become a global village and that had led to high dependence on collaborations and teamwork.
III. Review of Literature/Background:
The research area that will be focused on in this case is the global economy. The field that will be targeted is the manufacturing field. The subfield in this case will be organizational operations. The global economy is currently ailing and struggling because of the events that have been taking place. COVID-19 is a global pandemic that has not only slowed down the growth and development of organizations but has also crippled some of the biggest organizations in the world. COVID-19 is an illness that started in 2019 in China. The disease has since spread to different parts of the world and it is now affecting other nations more than it affected China (Daffin, 2020). The United States is the most affected nation and that shows how the illness is as serious as the damage it has left behind.
The field that will be focused on is the manufacturing industry. The manufacturing industry is the engine of the global economy. Most of the nations that are thriving in global businesses are good manufacturers. For example, China and the United States are some of the nations that have done well in terms of their economy. The two nations are the leaders in the manufacturing industry (Daffin, 2020). The global pandemic has affected the area of manufacturing by a significant percentage. The virus has led to the frustration of gatherings. In the manufacturing industry, teamwork is paramount. Therefore, when people fail to meet, there are no manufacturing processes that are likely to take place. In a bid to deal with COVID-19, nations in the world have closed down factories. It, therefore, means that operations are no longer running in the manufacturing industry.
The subfield that the research will look into is operation. In the business world, operations are fundamental and that means that their absence leaves a big loophole in the whole industry. COVID-19 has affected organizational operations by a significant percentage. The illness is spread through contact. The WHO has given safety directives that many organizations have been forced to follow. One of the directives is keeping people home and social distancing. When people are forced to stay in homes, organizational processes are crippled. Also, when people are told to maintain a social distance of more than one meter, working together in an organization becomes a challenge.
Nations that are good in manufacturing certain products have specialized in such products and opted to import products that they are not good at manufacturing (Jurczenko, 2020). The current pandemic has cut relationships and teamwork among different nations. Because organizational processes affect the global economy, when organizations are not operating, it is more likely for the economy to be adversely affected. The global economy depends on the operations that take place in organizations. The halting of operations at a global capacity means that the manufacturing industry has stopped channeling money into the global economy. The United States alone has listed more than three million unemployed persons due to COVID-19. Therefore, it is no doubt that the global economy is vulnerable to uncertainties.
IV. Research Methodology:
Qualitative research method will be the most suitable research method in this case. The research design will be quasi-experimental and the tools of collecting data will be interviews and focus groups.

The grade for the entire dissertation project is a composite grade allocated by the defense panel and takes three areas into consideration:
· Form (20%): the structural organization of the Dissertation document (grammar and vocabulary; writing and reporting; technology; style)
· Content (60%): the academic accuracy and value of the project (executive summary; research question & objectives; background; main body; conclusions)
· Defense (20%): the manner and methods used (visuals; content; questions & answers)
