MLA Review for the Source Evaluation Paper:

Paraphrasing Review:

· Two paraphrases minimum required for the essay.

· Small section (three sentences or less) from a text that is simplified for your audience using a sentence (or two) in your own words.

· An in- text citation is needed since the paraphrase is not your original idea.

Direct Quote Review:

· Six direct quotes minimum required for the essay.

· Provide a lead in phrase for each direct quote.

· Use the lead in phrases sheet.

· Proper quotation marks and an in-text citation is needed.

Sources:

· The article

· Websites containing important information about the author’s credentials.

· Publisher websites of the article including: Education Week, Washington Monthly, and News America Weekly.

Reminders:

· If you use ANY outside information, it must have a proper in-text citation and work cited entry.

· The article in text citation is the author’s last name and page number (Cook 813).

· Other in text citations depend on the sources you choose to incorporate.
