Persuasive Essay, Second Draft

The Title of Your Essay Goes Here

This is a sample of the paper format requirements for this class, which are in accordance of the guidelines established by the MLA (Modern Language Association). All writing for English classes should be formatted according to MLA. The rest of this document explains what MLA format looks like. Notice that the font is 12 point, Times Roman. All of the line spacing is double—no more no less. Line spacing between paragraphs is also double (not 2.5). Notice also that the spacing between the upper, left-hand header and the title is double-spaced, as is the spacing between the title and the text. The title is centered, in the exact same font type and size as the rest of the paper and has no distinctive punctuation. Every key word in the title is capitalized. Margins are 1 inch on the sides and 1 inch on the top and bottom.

The first line of each paragraph is indented one-half inch. In the upper, right hand corner are the last name of the paper’s author and the page number. If you have trouble getting your computer to do this, or any of the other MLA format requirements, ask someone in the library or tutoring center, or ask me. Your essay drafts need to follow this format. Once you have finished your draft, compare it to the way it looks to this page. If there are differences, fix them. And, as always, let me know if you have any questions.
