MKT310- W6 Post and Response
Please listen to Planet Money Episode #573 Why Textbook Prices Keep Climbing? This podcast and DB will be a little maddening I know! I negotiated the price of the textbook for this class down to $99 if I agreed to include MindTap. OK, MindTap is a way to hook me, the professor, in to using their platform but nope, I'm not doing it. But aside from that, it was the best way to get the price as low as possible. The price is close to $299 if I chose the hard cover book with all the bells and whistles.
So, after listening to the podcast please answer the following:
1. Is there a way to use sales promotion to reduce the cost of textbooks for students? Demonstrate an understanding of sales promotions key concepts from the textbook.
2. Is there a sales promotion or other MarCOM tool that can help reduce prices when the buyer is not the 'principle agent'?
Ideas for a second post are: posts about sales promotions in other 'tricky markets', other 'principle agent' examples, posts about sales promotions aimed at the college target market.
