Using social media marketing to build a strong personal brand may be challenging. The main challenge of using social media marketing to build a personal brand include; difficult in managing the personal brand online. According to our textbook, social media has a lot of players who are always interacting there. Managing one’s personal brand online becomes challenging since one has to maintain the same picture he purports to be even when criticized by people online (Barker, Barker, Bormann, Zahay, & Roberts, 2017), This becomes very challenging and therefore the one may fail to maintain his or her image throughout.

Building one’s brand requires one to remain on internet for long hours. This give him or her a chance to respond to various views from different people online. This may prove to be expensive hence making one unable to remain online for long hours. The costs involved may make building and maintaining personal brand online uneconomical.

Building a strong personal brand may be time consuming hence making it challenging. The person intending to build a personal brand online may find it challenging to remain online for long hours since they will usually have other things to attend to failure to remain online for long hours may lead to one being unable to build a strong brand online. This greatly affects online personal brand building significantly.

One of the biggest challenges that I and any social media marketer will face when establishing a brand online is going to be, making sure we are narrowing in on exactly what we want our messages to portray. As I try to establish myself I can not be too broad on all of the videos that I post online. The other thing that would probably be an issue for me is acknowledging all the other brands in my field and realizing that they are my competition. I think that a lot of people who are starting out, don't realize that the competition has been doing it for a while and they know a lot more than I do as a starter. Lastly, generating my own content will be one of the hardest parts. You need to carve out at least 2 hours per day to produce content. Gary V. is always preaching about producing content and it is really the most important thing when it comes to social media.
