While looking through all of the user-generated content done by different companies, I enjoyed the simplicity of one in particular. Chobani asked those who enjoyed their yogurt to send in videos and pictures of themselves expressing their love for Chobani. They also asked customers to send in recipes, stories, songs, and paintings. This is a more in-depth description, "Chobani, a Greek yogurt company that was founded in 2005, is another brand that decided to use its customer base to improve its image and boost sales. The company asked its loyal customers to submit videos and images praising its yogurt. The content was shared on the company website, billboards, and across other mediums. Chobani attributes the campaign to a 225.9% increase in revenue between 2009 and 2010." (Siu, 2015).
I want to focus on those who stay home, whether stay-at-home mothers or people concerned about their health. I assume my yoga application will more than likely be used at the user's home. So, I would like to do something similar to what Chobani did and keep things simple. I want to encourage users to take pictures and videos of themselves enjoying the application. I would like to utilize Instagram and have customers tag our profile, so we can then display them on our social media. When Orchard Yoga displays these happy customers, it will likely help bring in more curious customers. In my opinion, when I see a satisfied customer, I feel more inclined to give, whatever it that they are raving about, a chance myself. I would also like to do a photo contest and, just as Chobani did, give the customer a prize. The prize will be merchandise from the store and a shirt or tank that they can customize the color of.
An example of one user-generated content that could be an option would be showing tweets about the brand. I have seen companies do this before, and it just seems bland. There are many creative people in this world; even those who aren't creative can still take pictures and videos. A simple tweet being shown takes that away from the customers, in my opinion, of course.
User generated content has grown extensively in the business world. Almost every time I log into my Instagram account, I can account for at least one form of user generated content. This content is shared by everyday users of a certain product or business in ways such as pictures, videos, or even hashtags. Many times, this is free advertising for a firm, and happens to be authentic content. When you see others giving products recognition, knowing they aren't being paid by them, it shows the authenticity of their experience. This draws in other viewers to be potentially new customers. When we see the content of others enjoying products and services, we become intrigued.
User generated content can easily be used for my yoga studio. By creating a business account on many social platforms, I can leave it open for public viewing. This allows others to connect and share their experiences with our studio. We are in a time now where almost everyone is documenting their lives on social media. This is a great way for businesses to use the content to their advantage. Sharing my clients posts and stories will not only show our appreciation towards our clients, but will show others what they can expect when visiting Inhale Exhale. Our customer will receive recognition and appreciation in their shared posts. If they are a former creator, they will receive the publicity to their page. Creating a hashtag that our page can easily follow will allow us to keep up with who is posting.
An example of this type of user generated content is the grocery store chain Aldi. They often share customers posts labeled #aldihaul. Through these posts we are able to see what everyday shoppers like us are shopping for. I can attest that it intrigues me to shop there and try to find those healthy items to fuel my family with. By sharing customers content, it shows me just how attainable these products are for a family like mine. I also just recently purchased gummies yesterday from a TikTok video I saw. A content creator shared her favorite products that she was not sponsored by. I looked up their page and ordered some for myself. Just like that that firm received free advertising and a new customer.
