Internet Elections
· In what ways is the politician using the Internet to communicate their message?
Since the State of Nevada’s elections took place in 2016, I decided to focus in on Georgia’s upcoming mayoral election and chose Kwanza Hall who is a current member of the Atlanta City Council since 2005. He uses three of the most popular internet social sites; Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, to communicate his message. As an active member of Twitter since 2007, it’s clear that he is familiar with ways in which to use the platform for the most effective results. His account is verified with thousands of followers and that right there should always remain a top goal if you are trying to reach a large audience.
· Does the politician allow for adequate engagement with the voters on their Internet pages?
Mr. Hall engages with his voter audience on his internet pages and constantly keeps them informed about laws, local Atlanta news. He also highlights negative and positive things about the city and posts many inspirational quotes. One example of his engagement was on October 9th when he tweeted to his 23,000+ followers, “What's on everyone's playlist today? #MusicMonday”. On Facebook, he also engages with his voter audience and even replies to their comments on posts.
· From the standpoint of a voter, do you believe that the message from the politician is easily communicated to the voters?
I believe that the city councilman’s message is clear and easily communicated. He constantly posts videos and voices his plans he has for the city if elected mayor.
