MIS Project and Presentation Requirements & Grading Team Formation:
This is a team project. Form your groups and choose your team mates (2-3 members Max). Topics
are approved based on first come first served and on topic type. If you do not have a group, I will
assign you myself.
Project Requirements:
1. You are supposed to conduct a case study on an existing company’s IS business processes (banks,
manufacturing company, telecommunication etc) to improve its information system operations to
achieve the six strategic business objectives (you may consider a failing business).
2. Students must collect real-life data through research, interviews, and/or actual observations.
3. Each group must detect, define, model and solve the selected problem using MIS tools and
techniques covered in the course.
4. Team Leader should send me the topic for approval.
5. If I did not approve your topic, you will need to find another one.
6. You should name your group any name of your choice.
7. Prepare a project progress Report that consist of the following:
a. Team leader name and group member names
b. Presentation topic.
f. Team Leader only must submit the report.
Final Presentation requirements:
a) You must all share presenting the presentation. b) Make sure to test your presentation in class prior to date of presentation. Time will not be wasted to
check if file opens or not, or if pictures is displayed, or sound is low. c) All Presentations must be submitted by team leader. d) Presentation should contain the following slides:
i. Cover slide, containing your Group Name, your team names, course name, etc.
ii. Outline slide
iii. Contents slides –make sure your content is clear and well organized.

iv. Plagiarized presentations- will earn Zero – contact me back if you need further clarifications.
8. The project should include the following sections:
a. Introduction Define current MIS related problems in the nation stating the importance of such issues in your
own words. Utilize at least two journal articles in this section with proper citations. Narrow the
narration down and link it with the importance of improving MIS of businesses.
b. Problem Description Introduce the problem environment and explain why you’ve selected this particular location/
company.
Collect data regarding the problem you’ve determined and selected
Depict the initial situation – the current business without your suggested improvements.
c. Model Development (including the methodology description) Analyze the system problems in details.
Detect the problems/issues that must be eliminated/altered to improve the system in focus.
d. Model Solution and Results Suggest solutions by using t information system-based methodologies we’ve covered in the
lectures.
Conduct a comparative analysis providing pre- and post- improvement cost/profit/etc.
measures.
Demonstrate the applicability and feasibility of your solution; discuss the long-term benefits
from various perspectives (environmental, financial, social etc.)
e. Conclusions Summarize your projects and its findings.
