MIS 7749 Statistical Data Analysis -MIDTERM (TAKE-HOME Study)

· Develop a case study or scenario on a business/economics/related area problem.

· Collect a set of data on this scenario.

· Describe a set of data based on the scenario (problem story) above. The set of data may be consist of real observations/measurements or can be obtained from the web page of an organization/institution, firm or can be produced by using a random number generator (the simplest one is available as Excel add-in) software programs.

· Define the dimensions and properties of the data set: size- number of observations, number of variables, type of the variables and/or determine type of the probability interpret their properties.

· Summarize and analyze the data set by using R-program,

· Summarize, compute probabilities analyze the data set by using R software packages by applying data description techniques (descriptive measures, shape of the set of data by using skewness and kurtosis measures, related plots and diagrams, correlation coefficient) determine probability distribution(Simple probability rules, binomial, normal), compute expected value and variance for probabilistic data..

· Examine and compare results obtained/extracted from statistical summarization/probabilistic approach to your case and write a conclusion.

· Write an executive report (including short story of the problem, data collection procedure, data structure, visualization techniques-charts, analyses and solutions, conclusion and references).
