Objective: Design an intranet to support the business requirements/operations described below. Requirements:

Ava recently purchased a commercial building. • She has already signed a rental contract with a local retail bank to combine several offices into one large

office to be used as a branch office by this retail bank. This rental contract includes all network services required to support the retail banking operations and transactions.

o Hint: Retail banking operations are mission-critical.

• She will also open up an Online Accounting Service business with 100 employees. A data center (also known as a remote data server) must be established to satisfy the PCI DSS regulations. This business is projected to serve 500+ companies on an annual basis.

Your Tasks: Please prepare a proposal for implementing an intranet with 2 or more local area networks in order to support Ava’s business needs, as described above. At the minimum, your proposal must include the items listed below. 1. For every proposed local area network:

a. A network diagram b. The type of local area network c. A list of networking devices that will be used to build this local area network d. The business or businesses that will be supported by this local area network

2. For the proposed intranet: a. A network infrastructure diagram, showing how all proposed local area networks are

interconnected b. A list internetworking devices that will be used to interconnect all proposed local area networks

How does a network diagram look like?

This network diagram shows that this local area network has 4 networking devices: Router, Wireless Access Point (similar to router), and 2 switches.

Note: The Internet connection is NOT part of the local area network. Rather, it is a capability of this local area network, indicating that this local area network can connect to the Internet.

How does an intranet infrastructure diagram look like?

The following infrastructure diagram shows that this intranet consists of 3 local area networks of an organization. Note: An intranet belongs to ONE organization and does NOT include the Internet. If your solution uses the Internet to interconnect the local rea networks of the organization, your solution is incorrect.
