3. Play the MIT Moral Machine Game by clicking on “start judging”. You can play the

game as often as you like. There are no “right” or “wrong” decisions and the goal is not

to “win” the game.

4. Save your personal analysis that you will receive after finishing the game

After finishing the game, please answer the questions in full sentences:

1. Was “fitness preference” important for you? Shall self-driving cars aim for “fitness

preference” in your point of view? Why / why not? (minimum 200 words)

2. Support or contradict your argumentation with the theory of the survival of the fittest

(Darwin) as well as the categorical imperative (Immanuel Kant). (minimum 300 words)

3. In your point of view, who shall be involved in making the specifications how self-

driving cars’ algorithms shall act in the situations presented in the game? (minimum 200

words)

2. Driving behavior-based car insurance

The insurance company “Crash Mutual” thinks about introducing risk-based premium based

upon driving behavior. The driving behavior of insured drivers will be measured by a box

installed in the car. The box collects live driving data. It is equipped with GPS (Global

Positioning System) and acceleration sensors to measure driving speed and capture risky or safe

driving behavior. By driving slowly and safely, drivers can collect “Crash safety points” which

in turn reduce the risk premium to be paid for their car insurance.

Please answer the questions in full sentences:

1. Argue based on well-known concepts of fairness (substantive vs. procedural fairness)

whether risk-based premium can be regarded as fair / unfair for insured drivers.

(minimum 300 words)

2. How could privacy of the drivers be affected by the boxes that Crash Mutual aims to

install in their customers’ cars? (minimum 250 words)
