Research Project Elements and Expectations

Use the research that you have compiled over this course to effectively convey your topic in a scholarly manner. Each of the rough drafts of your research project will be graded out of 100-points.

The paper will include:

1) A clear and concise thesis statement

2) Clear organization

a. Body paragraphs should be clearly separated, coherently connected (clean transitions), work together to support thesis statement using sub-headers and topic sentences that speak to specific points.

b. Suggestions for organizing the body of your paper:

· Chronological Order

· Cause and Effect Order

· Problem Solution Order

· Comparison/Contrast

· General-to-Specific

3) Sufficient development and support

a. Well-researched, accurate, detailed, and current information

b. A minimum of 4 sources (research rule of thumb: 1 source per page written, with two in-text citations per page).

4) Academic tone/grammar/formatting

a. Consider your audience—define terms and tailor your language appropriately.

b. Cite using direct quotations and paraphrasing; practice appropriate formatting for in-text citations and Works Cited page.

This research paper will be a minimum of 4-pages but not more than 6-pages long (not including format specific pages such as the Works Cited page). Use one-inch margins and 12-point Times New Roman (or similar) font.

· Rough draft #1 is due to Blackboard by 11:59PM on Saturday, July 27th.
