Assignment: Write a 2 page paper on “Urban Legends: The Boyfriend’s Death” by Jan Brunvand (he / they). The paper must be typed, double spaced, in 12 point Arial or Times New Roman font, with MLA formatting and citations. Do not make a works cited page. (Unless you really want to.)

Your paper must include the following:

Intro paragraph:

Define an Urban Legend, then finish the paragraph by answering the thesis question: "What is the purpose of an Urban Legend?"

Body 1: Discuss one answer to your thesis question. Provide one example from the text.

Body 2: Discuss another answer to your thesis question. Provide one example from the text.

Body 3: Briefly summarize ONE urban legend / conspiracy theory / piece of fake news that you A) already know or B) have learned about through research. No citation needed.

Then, analyze this urban legend on a superficial level as well as a deeper, more symbolic level.

This paragraph should be approximately 1/3 summary of UL, 2/3 analysis of the UL.

There is no conclusion paragraph.
