My approved topic is “Nursing, Environment, and Ethics through Education”. The nursing profession involves taking care of patient suffering from various diseases. For this reason, nurse professionals are always prepared to attend to emergencies within the healthcare system. Owing to the fact that most of this emergency issues originate from the society, nursing is now focused on educating people within communities as a preventive measure. Sensitization education is an integral part of both professional and social ethics to help communities understand the cause of some common diseases and how they can be prevented. The nursing fraternity also has a social responsibility to protect the environment (Dorigan & Guirardello, 2017).
I will introduce this topic by giving a story that will help me catch the attention of the audience. The story that I will use will be closely related to my topic. For instance in this topic, I will give a story about how a particular nurse helped to save a certain village from cholera by educating them on the importance of using clean water. The story will be brief to avoid wasting a lot of time on the introduction part. Most people will feel bored if you spend most time of the presentation giving stories (Sewasew, Mengestie & Abate, 2015).
The story will also be interesting and narrated in a way that catches the attention of the audience. The introductory slide of the PowerPoint should have a provocative statement and a compelling statistic or fact about the topic. It should also have an image that catches the eye of the audience and also helps them guess what the topic is all about (Lingard, & Driessen, 2015). The slide should also provide the agenda or a brief overview of what will be discussed in the presentation. The overview should however create suspense and have relevance to the audience. This prepares the audience for the presentation.
