As defined in this paper by Gartner, information governance is the determination of decision rights and a framework for accountability to facilitate desirable habits in the valuation, storage, creation, use, deletion, and archival of information. It involves all the roles, processes, metrics, and standards that ensure efficient and effective utilization of information in a company to enable the achievement of the desired goals in an organization. Companies that wish to engage in information governance best practices can gain ideas from the existing practices and standards in various domains. Coca-Cola Company collects essential concepts from other outside sources to govern the massive amount of data collected daily in Coca-Cola Company worldwide.
Wang, Y., Kung, L., & Byrd, T. A. (2018). Big data analytics: Understanding its capabilities and potential benefits for healthcare organizations. Technological Forecasting and Social Change, 126, 3-13.
To date, the health care industry has not identified the potential significance that can be acquired by a company engaging in big data analytics. While the academic research on big data that is constantly growing is technology-oriented, a more advanced understanding of the big data implications is urgently needed. Coca-Cola Company being one of the largest companies with many branches across the world, deal with a massive amount of data. Modern technologies, such as social networks, IoT, data analytics, and cloud computing facilitate the collecting of massive amounts of data. However, to use data for its entire purpose, data privacy and security are critical. Investigation of data privacy and security has been going on for thirty years now. However, we still face issues today in protecting and securing data, which may result in the adoption of new challenging research directions. Most of the challenges in handling the enormous amounts of data in an organization arise from privacy concerns. Coca-Cola Company has evaluated the data security issues and identified some of the possible loopholes: they handle large amounts of data. Therefore, implementing information governance in Coca-Cola Company has greatly helped in enhancing reliable data security.
Li, C., Bai, J., Chen, Y., & Luo, Y. (2020). Resource and replica management strategy for optimizing financial cost and user experience in edge cloud computing system. Information Sciences, 516, 33-55.
Edge cloud computing is known for providing resources close to its users, reducing response time. Although, due to the limited capacity of edge cloud computing, it is often faced with challenges on how to address the overload problem. In this research paper, a strategy for managing resources is proposed to solve t6he issue of edge cloud workloads while reducing the financial cost of renting the nodes. Implementation of information governance in Coca-Cola Company has helped the company to integrate edge cloud computing effectively, avoiding any setbacks that might arise from the delay in response time of the edge cloud.
VORONKOVA, O. V., KUROCHKINA, A. A., FIROVA, I. P., & BIKEZINA, T. V. (2017). Implementation of an information management system for industrial enterprise resource planning. Revista Espacios, 38(49).
The problem of resource planning system implementation is an essential issue and requires thorough research. This involves the activities in the creation of industrial profiles. Implementing this kind of development strategy is complex to accomplish and time-consuming. Many companies have rarely carried out this process at the right level. This situation and others have led to the need for other advanced strategies. This paper suggests the resource planning system model implementation mechanism for large-scale multi-companies. It concludes that the resource planning system of an organization results in the improvement of the organization's management structure. Coca-Cola Company exploits information management activities by integrating the information governance system. Information governance has helped Coca-Cola in managing the data by efficiently collecting, analyzing, and storing data.
Smallwood, R. F. (2019). Information governance: Concepts, strategies and best practices. John Wiley & Sons.
A combination of factors has contributed to the creation of imperative information governance. Particularly, new privacy legislation, such as California Consumer Privacy and EU General Data Protection Act, has facilitated awareness of issues relating to data protection. This is a baseline step in information governance. Organizations have eventually started to see information governance not only as a reduction and cost center activity, but they are also seeing it as one that has enormous significance in the organization in ensuring the goals of the organization are met. The Coca-Cola Company relies on regulations and guidelines set by authorities to implement its activities at their best.
