The score of the path goal assessment provides information regarding the type of leadership a person uses often and which he or she uses less often. According to the assessment, I possess some qualities of supportive leadership style. That is I am a friendly and approachable leader. The observers’ is score is correct about my leadership traits in a number of ways. First, I tend to attend to the well-being of the followers, obtain their ideas and opinions and integrate their suggestions into the decisions about how the team should process with the task at hand. Furthermore, I am an achievement-oriented leader. I tend to challenge followers to perform work at the highest level possible.
As a leader, I establish high standards for followers and seeks continuous improvement. I tend to show high degree of confidence in my followers and feel that they are able to establish and accomplish challenging goals. I am a leader who accepts input from followers. I believe that as a leader I am not always right and that followers have opinions and ideas that might have significant impact to the organization. Furthermore, followers feel recognized and part of the team when their ideas count. Also, inclusivity of team members increases creativity and innovation within a group. Therefore, with this knowledge, I even give team members opportunity to give their ideas and opinions regarding certain matters. However, I disagree with the observers’ score that I help followers overcome problems that stop them from carrying out their tasks. According to the observers, the score is 3.75 on this aspect, however, I believe that my leadership style is employee oriented and that I am focused on helping employees to achieve their goals and targets and overcome any challenge in completing their tasks.
