Path-Goal Assessment Comparison

Personal comparison of chapter 5 and 6 self-assessment to that of the observers' responses demonstrates some slight variance. The observers result mostly identified my approach to leadership as average which is comparable to my assessment. In other words, apart from some questions, the responses by the observers were true representations of my style of leadership. The variance in the responses is minute, however, depicts a true appreciation of my view of leadership. When addressing the few variances, it can be assumed that the observers had appreciated my style of leadership and considered it at the norm. In other words, the observers may have assumed my personality attributed to the leadership styles resulting in the variation in response.

The assessment identified numerous factors about the leadership approach, firstly, it identified that as a leader, the consideration of followers is highly considered. The notion is demonstrated with the positive scores when asked “if I act without consulting my followers?” the majority of the responses stated that it was false. Therefore, it has already identified the threshold of my leadership skills. The main area of contention would be supporting, consulting, and expectations of team members. In the assessment test, It was evident that as a leader, the followers were not offered the needed support to ensure an effective outcome. The notion is demonstrated in the average person and observer ratings on specific team-based activities. For example the question “I let followers know that I expect them, to perform at their highest level.” By focusing on better team activity consideration and team development, it would result in positive outcomes for the team and resultant activities.
