According to the leadership behavior questionnaire, I strongly emphasis on task and relationship. This means that I am both a task oriented and employee oriented leader. A task and employee oriented is an effective leader because he focuses on both the completion of tasks as well the welfare of employees. A task oriented leader makes sure that tasks are completed within the specified period. On the other hand, employee oriented leader ensures that employees are provided with the right environment to do their work and their welfare is effectively looked at. Combination of both ensures maximum productivity. If a leader focuses on both performance and the working environment of the employees, the productivity is two times higher than when a leader focuses on either task or behavior of employees. A major trait related to leadership behavior is that I help team members to feel more comfortable and address their needs effectively. Furthermore, an employee oriented leader treats other team members fairly. On the other hand, a task oriented leader defines roles and responsibilities to each group member and follows up to ensure that all team members achieve their targets. Furthermore, as a task oriented leader, I provide a plan on how tasks should be done. This provides an easy way for team members to complete their tasks. A leader should act as an example for employees to follow. I set myself as an example for employees to follow. As a leader, I am sensitive about other people’s feeling. Being aware of other peoples’ feelings helps a leader to address issues that might affect another person. For example, a leader will be more conservative to do things that negatively impact his or her followers. Understanding one’s leadership strengths and weaknesses is very important as its helps improve areas where a leader might be failing or performing ineffectively.
