Running head: MILESTONE 1; ORGANIZATION PROPOSAL 1

MILESTONE 1; ORGANIZATION PROPOSAL 2

An organization which I am familiar and regularly do business with is Wal-Mart because I briefly worked and shop at one of its Illinois stores. I think Wal-Mart is a good match for this project because of its size and standing; its multidimensional corporate facets also make it an excellent example for studying.

Initially referred to as Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Wal-Mart Inc is regarded as a public retail corporation in the United States of America that features itself in operations revolving around grocery stores, rebate branch stores and as a series of hypermarkets. Wal-Mart Inc has its headquarters at Bentonville, Arkansas where it was founded by the named Sam Walton in the year 1962 and later the 31st day of October in the year 1969 was incorporated. Sam's Club retail warehouse is also owned and operated by Wal-Mart Inc. As at the 31st of January 2018, Wal-Mart had 11,718 departmental stores and clubs in approximately 30 countries, functioning under 59 different identities.

On a global level, Wal-Mart is the world's biggest company by revenue; about US$486 billion concerning the latest Fortune Global 500 list. The supermarket chain is the biggest private employer in the world with 2.3 million workers. It is a publicly traded family-owned corporation, being that the company is under the directorship of the Walton family. The heirs of Sam Walton possess more than 50 percent of Walmart utilizing their holding corporation, Walton Enterprises and through their holdings. Walmart was the most prominent grocery vendor in the United States in the year 2016 and two-thirds of the retailer's US$478.614 billion proceeds came from operations in the United States. It is worth mentioning that Walmart was listed in the NYSE in the year 1972.
