3 Essay Questions

Directions: Answer all four questions. Please answer each question with as much detail as you can. Each answer must be at least 500 words with no fluff! The most important part is to create a narrative on how the events unfolded. It is highly recommended to explain how one event affected another event. Any information before 1977 and after 1917 will not be graded and counted as part of your answer. Warning! If you goal is to based around hit 500 words, you may receive a grade reflecting this. Please use the rubric to achieve a successful grade.

1) How did the United State evolve from an agrarian based economy after the Civil War to an industrial powerhouse just prior to the U.S. entry to WWI? Please include how the growth of cities, unions, corrupt businesses, and technology feed the transition of America during the previous described time period.

2) Detail how women went from housewives and supporting the family along with no rights and limited opportunity to work outside of the home after the Civil War to the passage of the 19th Amendment.

3) Explain how United States isolationism prior to 1898 with no international interest outside of its borders expanded interest to other countries. Use war, conflicts, political events and other issues that pushed America to influence other countries. Also explain how America changed Europe after WWI.
