MIDTERM PAPER PROMPT

BA 476/576 “Business Ethics”

For your Midterm Research Paper I would like for you to introduce me to an organization that cares (or one that embodies empathy as part of its organizational/company ethos)—albeit internally and/or externally. This org/Co could be any really. From the health care professions to factory floors, care abounds and I would like for y'all to find it and describe it. I would like for you to not only introduce me to it, but also, to highlight a few of those instances and/or places where an "ethic of care" is being embraced/exhibited as part of the organizational/company culture. Lastly, take some time to speculate about what kind of a world this would be if all organizations/companies, individuals and the like embraced an "ethic of care" per our everyday comings and goings. 

*In short, find a organization/company that cares deeply about others, introduce me (the reader) to it, highlight some instances where it has exhibited such care, and describe what the world might look like if we all embodied an "ethic of care" in the many relationships that we are privileged to share in. [As you write, assume that I have never heard of the organization.]

Too, please proof read as you write and make sure you reference outside sources. On a paper like this I expect to see at least 3-5 solid references. The paper needs to have a Cover Page, 6-8 full pages (double-spaced) of written text (INTRO>BODY>CONCLUSION), and a Bibliography Page. In sum, and with the additional Cover and Bibliography pages, y'all should be handing in anywhere from 8-10 pages really.

It is due by Monday, February 4th, at the beginning of class. Unless you have an accommodation, absolutely no late papers will be accepted after this point. A hard copy is expected. Further, please note that I grade rather heavily on these and that you will want to give it your all. Because I don't inundate my students with busy work during the term (although you might feel otherwise) I tend to treat the Midterm and Final as the core of your graded work in this course.
