Mid-Term Writing Self Assessment For each question below, please respond in paragraph format. Questions 1 and 2 include several parts, so respond in separate paragraphs to question 1.a and 1.b. for example (each will have its own paragraph). Reflect on questions 3 and 4 how you wish. 1. First, consider your next paper on Comparison and Contrast. Please detail your plan of action in writing. a.) Why will you choose your two readings to synthesize? Explain your rationale a bit for selecting them. Interest, glaring differences? b.) How do they compare and contrast in your view so far? Discuss the potential themes/ terms/criteria you would like to apply in your essay and why. And support this discussion with some direct examples and quotes from your responses or textbooks. 2. Thus far, identify one area of writing you would like to address as a writer: purpose, unity, development, detail, clarity, organization, focus, originality. Review your reading responses and drafts and consider peer feedback as well. a.) Explain why you think this area of writing needs more consideration using a few direct examples and quotes from your writing so far. b.) How will you attempt to solve this concern in your future writing? What steps can you apply or have applied already? Discuss. 3. Now that you are about to embark on Comparison and Contrast, please reflect on this genre and your writing. Detail how this kind of writing compares and/or contrasts to Descriptive Analysis. How do you think it will be more challenging, inviting, and/or easy when compared to your first paper? Provide textual evidence from any of your previous documents to explain. 4. Evaluate a concept or strategy you have gained or realized by taking WRI 101 First Year Writing. Have any rhetorical ideas been reinforced from your previous English, Writing, or other courses? Reflect on your writing from past educational experiences or from other courses taken at Suffolk that called you to write. What have you found valuable or useful, and how have you developed as a writer as a result?
