Microsystem deals with the child’s home life. Dealing with all this child has going on can certainly cause stress. In her case it is causing her to seek the attention and affection that she may not be getting at home. Normally when there is a lot of stress like this at home, the child has trouble trusting others. This is just the opposite. She is too trusting of others, us at school and just adults in general.

Mesosystem deals with the relationship between the microsystem. Sometimes children living in poverty struggle at school. They tend to not have the parent support that they should with regards to their education. This is not true in everyone but can often occur. This child is not really struggling in school. She does have an IEP for speech, but she is also a dual language learner. She does, however, have a very difficult time staying still.

The ecosystems deal with the environment. Now that this mom has found a job, her schedule has changed, and she is picked up and dropped off by her grandparents. She also must get up earlier in the morning, so she becomes tired very quickly.

The macrosystem deals with the culture of the family. Sometimes, a child dealing with all these issues thinks that maybe this is the way things are supposed to be. They also deal with these challenges in different ways. Some children shut down and some seek that extra attention and affection.

Chronosystem is when children see things as they are growing up. The things that they see cause them to have issues as they grow older. The environment around them can help to change and improve their development. Schools and communities can help teach children and help with their social and emotional development. We are trying to help this child and offering the family some counseling services. A lot has gone on in this family’s life and we want to help them get back on their feet.
