G Suite Assignment

In this exercise you will be introduced to the different Google applications (Drive, Docs, and Sheets). You will watch a few short videos and answer questions about them, as well as complete a short exercise in Google Sheets. (A word version of these instructions are at the bottom if you prefer to print them out)

Please watch the two videos below and answer the posed questions. Then, complete the sheets exercise and answer the additional questions posed.

Sheets Exercise:

Open the spreadsheet provided at the bottom of this page(upload, open with, google sheets) in Google Sheets (you will have to use the knowledge you learned from the videos to do this).

Right click in the Progress Section

Choose Conditional Formatting

Apply to range A:A

Format Cells If

Text is exactly

) On Track

Click the paint bucket

Choose a shade of green

Click Done

) Delayed

Click the paint bucket

Choose a shade of yellow

Click Done

) Overdue

Click the paint bucket

Choose a shade of red

Click Done

6.) Click Add-ons

7.) Click Get Add-ons (If you can not get the add-ons, explain how you would color code in Excel)

8.) Search and Download Sort By Color (It will make you sign in with gmail and accept permissions)

9.) Click the Progress Column

10.) Click Add-ons

11.) Select Sort By Color

Sort By Color will now sort your conditionally formatted cells.

This is just one of many different Add-ons that can be utilized in Google Sheets.

Sheets Exercise Questions:

How do you think the Sort By Color tool can be used in data analysis?

Find an Add-on that you find interesting and briefly explain what it does.

When you are finished with this assignment submit the Google Sheet and this document with answered questions into the dropbox on Canvas.

The instructions in a word document format and the Sheets assignment starting document are downloadable from the links below. The G Suite Sheets Assignment must be completed in Google Sheets. When you are finished upload both the assignment document with the questions answered and the sheet to the dropbox.
