Great Plains was originally built by the family living in Fargo, North Data. Back then, it was only a DOS-based accounting system and gained prominence around 1986 and had been upgraded to be a Window-based version around 90s known as Great Plains Dynamic. Back then, the software ran on lower end pervasive and C-tree database and Microsoft SQL database. Not even a year after Great Plains acquired Solomon Software, it was bought out by Microsoft Company for about 1 billion dollars in 2001. Lately, Great Plains has changed its name to Microsoft Dynamic GP.
