In our society, politics is one of the major leading forces behind many people's reasons for being. However, as you all brought up last week, how can politicians, leaders, grandmothers and anyone for that matter address questions when they have no real scientific, foundational understanding about the subject. If you were to ask them to break it down based on Science, that is structure, function & purpose, can they provide those answers; and are those based on molecular and/or cellular level understandings too? When answering a question, how do you answer it? Are you recognizing how others answer questions? Is it based on what, how & why? What about observations and inferences? Do you think people have been just "winging it" when it comes to answering questions, or is it based on some Scientific Method of understanding?
In this Forum, you are to discuss your stance on how people (including politicians, leaders, grandmothers, you or anyone) provide answers to questions. Do we tend to lean on cultural, traditional or learned responses? Do we just "believe" what someone says because they are respected by us in some way? How do we hold us accountable when it comes to delivering content that is accurate, credible and valid? How important is the Scientific Method when it comes to presenting information? Any other information you would like to add? Examples? Anecdotes? News Articles? etc... Write 3 paragraphs for this discussion.
