Michèle Pierre-Louis

Born : October 5, 1947  Jeremie, Haiti

·  She studied economics at Queens College of the City University of New York where she obtained her master's degree (1976)

· After her return to Haiti she devoted her time to improving literacy and adult education in her country

· she held training sessions for traditional midwives, she open libraries, and made education one of her core projects

· While doing this She has served in the private sector as Director of Credit at the Bank of Nova Scotia, she was also the Officer of Administration, she played as HR to the Haitian Development Finance Corporation, and she was the Deputy Director at the Airport Authority.

· In 1991, President Jean (the president of Haiti at the time) entrusted Pierre-Louis with the task of redefining the mission of the state and coordination between the Presidency and the Ministers

· She became Prime Minister of Haiti on September 5th 2008,

· prior to becoming Prime Minister She was University teacher. Her courses focused on "Culture and society in the Caribbean" and "The History of the Great Civilizations

· As prime minister She was only the second woman to hold this position

· after a series of internal and external shocks that hit the country in the summer of that same year: such as food and oil crisis, government crisis and a succession and the hurricanes she will still able maintain

· In 2010  she wrote a piece for the Huffington Post outlining her vision for a three-phase plan for the community: rescue, recovery and reconstruction

· Today she is still the director of the Knowledge and Freedom Foundation since 1995

· The Foundation focuses on the areas of education, culture, community development, environment, civil society and training of young entrepreneurs
