Introduction:

· Thesis statement: Michael Jackson was a good parent who taught his children basic values and ethics, showed them love and support, did not spoil them and was strict enough when it came parenting

· Outline of main points

· Jackson was good to his children

· He was never abusive towards them in any way

· The child sexual abuse allegations leveled against him were intended to paint him as bad parent, and extort money from him

· The context of my paper

· Jackson was the king of pop music towards the end of the 20th century, and the beginning of the 21st century

· The child sexual abuse accusations and allegations were aimed to taint him as a bad parent and were ill-intention for his bourgeoning pop music career

Purpose and Objective

· The paper aims to demystify the:

· Allegations regarding the sexuality of Jackson

· Child sexual abuse allegations leveled against him to paint him as bad parent

· The goal of this paper is to:

· Show the critics and opponents of Michael Jackson that he was indeed a good parent despite the wild sexual, and child sexual abuse allegations leveled against him

Definition of Terms

· Parenting; the process of supporting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual wellbeing and development of a child from infancy to adulthood

· Child sexual abuse or child molestation; this is a form of child abuse in which an adult or older adolescent perpetrator uses a child victim for sexual stimulation

· Allegations; these are claims or assertions made against another person that he has done something wrong or illegal. Allegations are typically one made without valid proof or sufficient evidence to support them

· Extortion; in the context of this paper is the act of obtaining money or property from an individual or institution by coercing the individual or institution through threats to taint his/her or its image

Main part:

· My claims

· 1st view: Away from the cameras and media, Jackson tried to create an environment of love, attention and special moments for his children

· 2nd view: Jackson ensured a stable home for his children

· Supporting evidence: He wanted his kids to have a permanent place to live and a sense of community

· 3rd view: His children absolutely loved him

· Supporting evidence: His daughter as numerous tattoos dedicated to him

· Opponents’ argument

· View: Jackson sexually abused or molested children

· My counter argument/response: the two children who accused him were in desperate need of money, and wanted to paint him in bad picture as a pop superstar so as to extort him

· Evidence:

If indeed Jackson had molested the child victims they should not have settled for money out of court settlement if they were not intended to extort money and property form him or his companies

The alleged sexually abused child victims should have filed a case with the police leading to Jackson’s arrest

Jackson’s nephews publicly stated that he never harmed them in any way

Other children who did not need the money like Macaulay Culkin who was framed to be sexual abuse victim was in his defense 100%

Jordan Chandler, the accuser in the first case, admitted in an investigation that his case was about extortion

Jordan as poor kid was a victim of his jealous and greedy father who committed suicide shortly after Jackson’s death

Conclusion/recommendation

· Jackson as a good parent wanted all the best for his children despite the wild allegations leveled against him as a sexual child abuser aimed at tainting his pop stardom image

· Summary of my findings and thoughts

· Jackson was not sexually active as a child like his older siblings

· He was a victim of circumstance being the pop music superstar he was

· Those who accused him of child sexual abuse wanted to extort money from him using the threat of tainting his image as a superstar

· His children loved him as a good father, and parent

· Those close to him knew him as good father to his children and philanthropist

· My own assessment of Jackson as a parent

· Those who paint Jackson as a bad parent draw their misinformed facts from the sexual child abuse allegations which were extortionist in nature
