This article talks about how organizations have been trying to organize an easier way for the public to determine how they would like to be tracked online. The average person doesn't have a problem with cookies being followed on their devices. We give up some privacy for convenience on the Internet. All data being tracked is not bad. But cookies are also used to build personal profiles for everyone on all personal devices, and they also share this data with third parties. There is a nice amount of people who enjoy seeing ads on their personal devices, while other people find them creepy and they are very disturbed by what they find. One way to stay clear from data collection is to browse from an Incognito mode on your web browser.

This journal article discusses some of the darker sides of using cookies on users with gambling addictions. A consumer can log on to these websites, and they collect data that consists of banking income and debt based on a personal profile. Third-party companies have access to all of your website visits. They can prey on a person with an addictive nature to gamble by showing more ads about credit cards and loans from banks. Browsing the web in Incognito mode is the only thing that could help someone like this. In most cases, we like to see ads for shopping and small things that are no major threats to our livelihood. For an addictive gambler, this could become a nightmare and cause much more harm than convenience.

This journal article discusses how cookies are collected through social media and how we are not always aware of all of the privacy rights that we give up while using these apps. They have a long list of privacy terms that pop up and are normally annoying. The average person doesn't read any of the privacy terms. We just want to get to our social media platforms, or we want to get to our apps as fast as possible. With some third-party companies, their terms may be a lot more extreme than we can imagine allowing access to our phones and laptops for days, months, and even years.

This article talks about Facebook luring users into giving information under the wiretap act. Facebook Has been known for putting its users into many privacy scandals over the years. Even if a user logs from Facebook, there are numerous plugins that contain data about their interest, which is called a get request to whatever web pages you are browsing. The average person doesn't even know that the like button on Facebook can be used to target ads. This is a way to communicate with third-party websites. By clicking the like button on whatever the users have an interest in, this data is sold to 3rd party companies and more websites are being delivered to our timelines.
