Organizational Dynamics – Power and Influence

Organizational dynamics, according to the Cambridge Dictionary (2019), is defined as “the study of how people in a large company or organization behave and react to each other, and of how the organization can be made to work more effectively.” The dynamics of an organization, both at the departmental and the organizational level, are key to effectively managing in a complex environment (Ratanapalan & Uleryk, 2014). It is vital that health care professionals promote stable organizational dynamics with proper leadership skills. Leadership encompasses a number of aspects. At the core, power and influence fundamentally need to be balanced correctly and effectively.

In Module 3, we will investigate organizational dynamics as it relates to power and influence.
