Diversity

The United States has become more diverse now than ever before and will even be more diverse in the years to come. You now have to work closely with others from different backgrounds; in the field of medicine, physicians will care for patients whose race, ethnicity, and language are often different from their own. As healthcare managers/leaders, knowing and identifying the needs of different cultures, and being sensitive to all needs is very important. The time is changing and embracing diversity is critical when it comes to healthcare.

Tasks:

In a minimum of 200 words, post your responses to the following to this Discussion Area:

· In the above scenario, do you believe that diversity will affect the interaction between patients and physicians? In what ways will diversity complicate the interaction between patients and physicians?

· Does the preponderance of non-black, non-Hispanic physicians in a country that is increasingly black and Hispanic attribute to the negative health outcomes that are seen in these populations?

To support your work, use your course and textbook readings and also use the South University Online Library. As in all assignments, cite your sources in your work and provide references for the citations in APA format.
