Milestone 2: Practice Drawing the Supply Chain for a Company
MGT 3323: Production and Operations Management
Milestone 2: Practice Drawing the Supply Chain for a Company Guidelines and Rubric Overview: For this assignment, you will choose a company and a product in that company, and then practice drawing the supply chain diagram for that product. You will need to conduct independent research and create an original diagram of the supply chain (not an image copied and pasted from the internet). The supply chain diagram should not illustrate the process within the company itself, but the holistic view from the raw materials to getting the product to the consumer. This milestone provides an opportunity for you to practice creating the type of diagrams you will be required to create for the final project. Note: You should not draw a supply chain diagram for your final project company. This milestone will provide practice in drawing supply chain diagrams, and you will later apply what you learn from this activity to the supply chain diagram for your final project company as part of your final project. Directions: To successfully complete this milestone, be sure to include the following in separate Microsoft PowerPoint slides:
● Slide 1: Draw a supply chain diagram that describes the following in detail: ○ Various tiers, or lack thereof, in the supply chain (such as the number of possible manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, and
retailers) ○ Possible players in the supply chain ○ How the firm chooses its suppliers ○ How the firm uses its supply chain to be competitive
● Slide 2: Describe the type of technology the firm uses to support its supply chain management (not just its operations).
Guidelines for Submission: Your supply chain diagram should be submitted as a Microsoft PowerPoint file. Sources should be cited in APA style. Instructor Feedback: This activity uses an integrated rubric in Blackboard. Students can view instructor feedback in the Grade Center.
