Hello Sayman,
I concur with you that there are five different levels of wants. The five levels of wants include; physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging, esteem and self-actualization. Employees have to be motivated in order to attain physiological needs of their families. Employees require food to feed themselves and their families. They need to feed on balanced diet to sustain them. In addition, employees need clothing and shelter for their families.
Hello Maria,
McClelland’s Human motivation suggest that every individual has three driving motivators. They include; affiliation, power and achievement. These motivators are developed through culture and also life experience. Employees are motivated by need for achievement. The need to achieve something is inside an individual. I concur with you that individual who are driven by achievement tend to persevere and succeed with result-oriented work. For instance, if an employee is a painter, paints well to become famous.
Skinner’s Operant Conditioning Theory theorized that if a good behavior is followed by reinforcement, that behavior is likely to be repeated while if followed with a punishment then it is likely not to be repeated. Employees will perform well at workplace if they know they will be rewarded and also do not something wrong if they know punishment will be implemented. Employees need to be reinforced when they do something good in order to increase their productivity at their workplace.
Hello Mackenzie,
I concur with you that Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs focus on a pyramid structure that categories wants from lowest basic needs into higher levels after the previous have been met. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs include; physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging, esteem and self-actualization. Employees’ lowest basic needs should be met first like physiological needs such as food, shelter and clothing. Then safety needs should be met by employer constructing a good building to be workplace. Moreover, employees should be provided with personal security and employment security. Then other higher levels of wants to follow.
Hello Logan,
Locke’s goal setting theory theorized the power of setting specific and measurable goals instead of keeping outcomes general. This theory has five principles of effective goal setting which include; charity, challenge, commitment, feedback and task complexity. I concur with you that this theory is applicable to today’s world in project management. In project management projects are broken down in smaller goals that motivates employees to achieve goals.
